Shopping, Coffee, Drinks - Agios Nikitas Village
At 2.6 you can find Agios Nikitas village, the “capital” of western Lefkada. Agios Nikitas maintains a traditional architecture. It has its own beach where you can enjoy a swim in the beautiful and calm waters. In the village you will find many traditional greek restaurants (taverns), cafès and coffee shops as well as many other shops where you can get supplies or souvenirs. There is also a church by the same name very close to the beach.
Beaches
At 2.1 km you can find the well-known beach “kathisma”, one of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada. Kathisma beach provides fine white sand and emerald waters where you can enjoy a swim or just relax at the beach. Kathisma is also an ideal destination for water sports and especially sky parachute. There are organized breach bars at the area.
At 2.3 km you can find Milos beach another very beautiful and well-known beach in Western Lefkada, very close to Agios Nikitas village. Access to the beach is usually by sea using the regularly departing boats. However, there is a route that you can take by foot, but it’s a little bit difficult and tiring.
A little further away from our apartments is Avali beach, at 8.7 km. As suggested by its name (Avali is a word used in Lefkada, meaning a small port with no wind) Avali beach is protected from big waves, offering a quiet place to enjoy the sea and view away from the crowds.
At the south part of the island, 28 km from Melikiron you will find the famous beach Porto Katsiki. Porto Katsiki beach is a natural beach with abrupt white cliffs and lush vegetation that create a idyllic set to enjoy your visit.
Restaurants & Taverns
Amente Restaurant, one of the most renowned bars/restaurants in Lefkada is located 2km away. Getting a table yourself might be tricky due to the long waiting list, but we have a special arrangement and we can book a table for you on a short notice.
8.7 km from Melikiron you can find the greek tavern “Rachi” up in the top of the mountain. Rachi offers a wonderful view for anyone who wants to enjoy coffee or a meal with local delicacies, fresh vegetables, local meat and wine.
Activities (Sports, hiking)
In lefkada you can enjoy a plethora of organized water sports like paragliding and surfing.
- If you are interested in paragliding, there are many routes to take from a height of 800m down to the beach. Flight’s length is about 20-30 minutes and you will have plenty of time to get photos and videos.
- Wind surfing is another popular sport in Lefkada. Most wind surfers gather at Vasiliki beach which is known for having strong winds.
- Kite surfing is also a very popular sport especially at Agios Ioannis beach where there is a club for people interested in the sport.
Finally, if you enjoy piece and quiet you will enjoy hiking around Melikiron. Most of the roads have low traffic and you will meet many other people who walk around to connect with nature.
